Chirp chirp!!

I did this "monster" Chubby Chirp by Rebecca Danger for the Charminglochie podcast February monster knit-along.  I used the left-overs of the malabrigo worsted I had used for my cowl and the beak is some kind of yellow mystery yarn that was in my stash.

I didn't use safety eyes for this monster for two reasons. The first is that I couldn't find any in Trondheim and I ordered some on Etsy but didn't want to wait, and the second reason is that I don't want to share this with anyone, I want to keep it all to myself, so I don't need safety eyes.

On the picture he seems very round, but if I just poke a bit he has a narrower face. Still, I think he's beautiful and slighly whimsical. :-)

  1. I agree, he is definitely a keeper...plus I'm getting tired of all of these safety things. Who cares? the little brats swallow an eye and the next day it appears in the poop. Do you even remember that little coin you swallowed when you were young? The doctor had a good laugh over my stress.

  2. Yes, but I think they are actually easier to put on. They have this screw on mechanism so that you don't have to sew them on, just screw them on (and then they have a thing in the back to secure them). So it's both for safety and convenience. I'll see when I get them.

I'm looking forward to making my second monster, but that one requires a bit of felt and of course I forgot to get some when I went to the fabric store...
