Guest post: A non-knitters view…

Knitting is a skill I don’t have… I do have fond memories of it, my Nan used to knit constantly… clickedly click, clickedly click… she used to do my school jumpers and my cricket tank top. I was probably a typical ungrateful brat and never thanked her enough, and its far too late now.

However, the most precious thing she knitted me was a Humpty Dumpty, for me to take into hospital for my major heart surgery. I kept humpty for years, and he always came to the hospital with me.

One of my earliest memories is screaming the hospital down after a stay involving a catheter and he’d gone, disappeared, vanished, stolen... I must have been 5 or 6 and humpty was my talisman for hospital. Five is not an age to lose your humpty!

So people, thank your knitter, they may infuriate you with their incessant clicking, their fascinating discussions on cable stitch patterns and where they left their needles (they’ll be under the craft table) but they can make your lives a lot warmer in more ways than one!
