I am thankful for: heart groups

(I'm a day behind because last night I just needed to take a break last night)

This afternoon I was "elected" (there was no one running against me) as the chair of the regional chapter of VMH, the Norwegian congenital heart group. I had in fact said that I would rather be vice-chair since I have a very busy 2012 ahead of me, but no one wanted to be the chair, so I had to step up or see the organisation go in "sleep" mode.

Even though I've been involved at the European level for a long time, it's the first time I will be so involved at the local level and I really look forward to it. I wish I had a lot more time, but I will try to make the best of things.

Mostly, I will try to make this regional organisation into what I think it should be, namely a place where GUCHs can come together, share past experiences and have new ones together. With all the moving around I've done, I've never really had a "home organisation" to call my own, and have often missed that, even though the wider community has been my home organisation. However, wherever I have moved to or even travelled to I have felt welcome in the various national and local organisations, and I hope I can extend that welcome to visitors in the future.

All this to say that I am very very thankful for organisations around that world that work for GUCHs on many different levels, and I'm glad to be part in a different capacity and I hope I can do a good job.
